RadarScope has got to be the best radar application out there!
I started with using RadarScope on my Mac, then on my iPod touch, and I just love it! It’s definitely by far the best radar app for the Mac, and possibly for iOS as well. I really love that the radar imagery comes straight from the radar site, and that it is not modified in any significant way. With other radar applications, the radar imagery may be out of date, or just not as detailed as the radar imagery in RadarScope. RadarScope’s imagery updates only every 5 to 10 minutes, and the radar imagery is very detailed, and very high quality! Another huge advantage about RadarScope is that it gives you a huge selection of radar tilts! One of my favorite features in RadarScope is the real time lightning strikes accessible via a RadarScope Pro subscription. While some apps may only give you limited lightning data, RadarScope gives you lightning for a full radar scan area. This lightning is also accurate and up to the minute. It also animates with the radar so you can see where the lightning has been striking the most in the past hour. Also, with the RadarScope Pro subsciption, you can access more frames of the SuperRes radar, so you can view a longer storm track in the highest quality of radar imagery. I do recommend the RadarScope Pro subscription, and while it’s $9.99 per year, it really helps to see how powerful a certain cell is with all the lightning strikes. While this version of RadarScope for OS X is $29.99, and the version for iOS is $9.99, it is a great value for the quality of radar imagery you receive. I would highly recommend you give it a try if you want top-notch storm tracking!
