RadarScope App Reviews

Something is missing!! Please read this.

It’s a good app, but it would be cool if they would introduce conus view so we could view the whole radar data from the US. It doesn’t show your location on the radar nor does it show streets other than major roads. Really disappointed in this, really, really disappointed. Also, the developers don’t listen to customers and tell them that they didn’t put these features because we didn’t needed it. EDIT (after installation): THIS APP DOESN’T NOT SHOW HAIL ICONS NOR MESOCYCLONE ICONS!!!!! PLEASE NOTe THIS BEFORE YOU BUY. WASTE OF MONEY FOR STORM CHASERS!!!!!! BUY PYKL3 RADAR INSTEAD. IT ALSO HAS NO GPS TRACKING SO YOU CAN’T SEE WHERE YOU ARE ON THE RADAR...

Can’t add lightning subscription like on iPad/iPhone

Very disappointed that I can’t add my lightning subscription to the desktop app like I can on my iPhone and iPad. Glad to see Canadian data in this version, though. However, for $30 this app has nothing different than the iPhone and iPad versions, which cost a third of the price. Overall: RIPOFF.

No good for Canadians

Canadian radars worked at first, but no longer. Very disappointing given the cost of this app.

Don’t buy-No Help

Purchased this for $29.99. I went to help and the website is totally non functional. The is no contact number nor support. Non of the tabs work under FAQ. I want my money back..

Was expecting more.

Just not as pleased with this app as i am for the one in IOS. I’m always using RadarScope on iPhone, but rarely use it on Mac, really wish I kept my 30 bucks. Don’t like the block or cube look of the precip on radar.

Now on ALL Platforms

I’ve used RadarScope on My iPhone for a long time now and it has been very accurate and helpful. Added it to my iPads for an even larger displayand it is terrific . Now that I have it on my 27” iMac it’s just awesome. Thanks RadarScope for such a great App

please PLEASE!!!!

I have love this app for the iPad&iphone,, can we please get split screen for MAC,, PLEASE,,PLEASE!!! this app is by far the best,, i have used it for 3 years,, never lets me down. I tracked all the storms on the gulf coast,, wow,, even beats the news stations down here. The reason i ask for a split screen like the ios app is lighting,, and precipitation amout help to watch out for flooding. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR THE APP!!!!!!!

Best radar app for a Mac

By far the best radar app for a mac. I have been a user of the IOS and now the Mac version for as long as they have been available and look forward to future updates.

Missing Certain Features

RadarScope for my iPhone was the first application I ever purchased. It’s never failed to impress me. That’s why when I finally purchased it with the Pro subscription for my new MacBook Pro I was disappointed to see it lacks certain features that the iOS app has, namely being able to view two products at once via a split screen option, loop scrubbing, and saving a radar loop as a video file. I notice the last update to the OS app was in November 2015. I really like this app, and it’s disappointing to see such a lag in updates. I understand mobile apps are in higher demand, but I hope these features would be added to the OS app soon.

One of the best radar applications

Simply one of the best radar applications for professionals. Very good interface. It is easy to use and easy to switch between products. Simple but effective map background. Suggestions: (1) Could use a radar compositing feature in addition to the per-site display, (2) would like to see "my position" on the map when connected to an external GPS "puck".

NOT LIKE THE SCREENSHOT!

Purchased this because of great the product looks in the screenshot only to find out "SuperRes Reflectivity" IS NOT an option to view. Also 1/2 of the options are greyed out.. i.e. Watches, Lightning, Storm Reports, MDs. and this ISNT explained in the descriptions. Would like and will be requesting a refund.

Continues to be the go to OS X radar app

Love the app and have used it for many years. Only beef is that SuperRes Radar is not available at all radar sites. iPad version actually offers better full radar coverage. Would be nice to have on large Mac monitors. Still a wonderful app for the weather geeks.

Need Super Res

Great app, use it all the time on my iPhone and iPad. Just wish that "super res" was avail on this app (for the Mac).

Best Radar Application for Mac

As much work as this application needs, I still love it and no longer need to run a VM for GRLevel3. It has a simple, easy to use interface, and has all the tools that you will need to watch the weather. I would reccomend this app for weather enthusiasts and professionals alike. Thumbs up to Base Velocity.

Boat Captain

When I read the other reviews I thought this radar is what I needed. WRONG ! If only we could preview the app before we spend the money. You see 1000s of tiny squares but somehow I cant see the intensity of the storms. Also the names of cities are there but roadmaps arent. Maybe I just havent figured it all out yet even though I have spent hours trying.

Still works very well.

I have been a user of Storm Lab for many years. I switched to MAC back in 2004 and only used Windows for Storm Lab. Well until recently not to many other programs worked as well until RadarScope. I think it has an easier user interface. It also does integrate with Allison House if you have a subscription. I highly recomend this program. The iphone and ipad app is very good as well. Best one so far. I wish Allison House subscription was cheaper though. -WX5AAA

ok so far

It would be great to have the lightning indicator on this app for the money. This was pretty expensive and I feel it is a great product but is lacking a few good extras! Much worth it but please add the lightning strikes.

Nice App

I am a meteorologist and have been using this app, among multiple weather tools, for 2 years on my MacBook Pro (I am not an Allison House subscriber). This app runs effectively and is best used for analyzing/tracking severe weather (thunderstorms, tornadoes, etc.)--typically of interest within the detection range of one radar site. This app will not composite radar returns from multiple radars, but this capability is not what I need. Likes: Suite of radar products (intensity, echo tops, velocity, etc.); easy switch/load between products; easy zoom in/out; storm tracks; range ring; near real-time updates; overlay of severe weather watches/warnings; clean graphics. When providing on-site support, I use this app to show/explain the real-time weather situation to clients to help them in their decision-making process. Would like to see addition of winter-season NOAA/NWS watches and warnings tied to snow/ice/wind. Overall, this app is very effective for what it provides. Thanks Base Velocity team.

definitely for experts!

If you don’t know the difference between “classic reflectivity tilt 2” and “classic velocity tilt 1”, I would not suggest buying this app!

Add 3D mode

Please add the ability to view stormds in 3D, inside the storm, just like how the Weather Channel views storms to see sleet and hail.
