Issues with Ver 2.2 on the MAc

Prior to this version, Radarscope has been my hand’s down favorite go-to app for any type of serious analysis of weather. We live in the southern tornado belt and this time of year, I have used it all the time, and it even saved our “bacon” at one point when a tornado came thru our neighborhood. I was able to spot the oncoming trouble even before the local weather service sent out any alerts. I have the had app on both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro laptop, and both worked fabulously! That is…, until Ver 2.2 on my laptop. Ver 2.3 is doing great on my iPhone but Ver 2.2 on my laptop is acting like it is not user ready yet. First, the app will not even launch half the time. I went thru the deletion from Launchpad once already, and that fixed it temporarily, but then the issue returned. While the app was working, I found that user locations do not work anymore (on the laptop). Nothing has changed on my laptop and I very computer literate and have done my own computer repairs for years. Maybe I am not an IT person, but I could be. So this is not me causing this. Radarscope, you have been better than excellent in all versions up to now, so I know something is amiss here. Please fix this. The storms are headed our way today, and I will sorely miss having access this app to monitor things. At least, it is still doing good on the iPhone.

App “Damaged”, Won’t Open

I have deleted and re-downloaded the app multiple times. When I attempt to open Radar Scope I am given a message saying Radar Scope is damaged and asked to redownload it. Please fix this problem. Many, including myself, have payed for an app that now doesn’t work.

Update is Fixed Tech support Great!

This is an update to my first review. Things have been fixed and tech support was very responsive. If your are still having issues with Pro Upgrade after purchase here is what I was told to do. Deleate the App, restart your mac, redownload it from the app store, click on the upgrade, enter your password for the app store, you may have to do it twice, the upgrade should go through. Once it goes through click to register your purchase with an email address if you have to restore the app. This worked for me on two macs. Make sure you restart your Mac after delating the app. I am late in posting this update as tech support helped me on April 2 immediately after I contacted them through their web sight.

This version,2.2.1, won’t open whereas the previous ver,2.1, did. I have an iMac late 2013 i7 w/Yosemite 10.10.3. I loved the previous version. Don’t upgrade to 2.2.1 until they figure this one out

Best radar app out there

Basically been through all the radar apps available. This one looks great and gets the job done. Easy to use, reliable. Totally worth the money if care that much about the weather.

Where are all the features?

I upgraded to the new 2.2.1 version. Missing are the settings panel (where you can select options like Expert Mode, Lightning Strikes, Storm Paths, etc.). This app was once my favorite weather app, but now it seems, without the features, it no longer meets my needs.

Great but inapp purchases...

I have both Radarscope on the Mac and iOS. Meaning I’ve spent $29.99 and $9.99 total because this app has great, no nonsense data display. It’s the ***BEST*** weather data app without any crud getting in your way- should be you paid a ton for it. But I also have $9.99 ‘pro’ on my phone for lightning… Not that useful for me and I thought it would work on the Mac, but to pay an additional $9.99 for that on my laptop? No thanks. If the MLB and HBO can let you watch/listen on mutliple platforms without having to pay a subscription for each operating system, then surely Radarscope people can finance that option too. Otherwise it feels like gouging.

Superb app and fantastic new upgrade

RadarScope is one of those apps where you are glad that went ahead and purchased it. With the new version (for the Mac), the UI has been changed but the new version has a much cleaner look. RadarScope is the best radar app you will ever find. I have both the Mac and iOS platforms. Resolution is outstanding!! I would recommend that you also purchase the Pro - an annual $9.99 which gives you Super resolution in the Velocity and Reflectivity and also Lightning. Please note with RadarScope, you are getting the radar feed that is rendered in its original format. What you are viewing is not smoothed out (and why would you want it to smoothed out anyway). If you are certified spotter, RadarScope is integrated so that you can connect to the Spotter Network. Technical support if you have a problem is exceptional. I would give the App and the tech support 14 out of 10 stars...its that impressive!!

Best Radar App Available (Mac, iPad, iPhone)

RadarScope is my go-to radar application for my Macs, multiple iPads, and all the family iPhones. The in-app purchase (~$9.99/year) provides increased functionality that I like, but is not absolutely necessary…the enhancements include lighting strikes, extended radar loops, and Super Res Level 2 radar data…that said, I bought it and have renewed it annually, too. I’ve been using this app for many years now, and it’s been stable through all the updates. It has a wealth of functionality that will give you as much data as your local TV newscaster…and that is without the AllisonHouse feeds, or using the other ‘advanced’ capabilities. I have 15 plus weather apps and a handful of dedicated radar applications. This is the best I’ve seen as as close to ‘expert mode’ as you can get. And, although it has lots of functionality, you can run it in Composite Reflectivity mode if you like too (versus of reflectivity capabilities, velocity capabilities, estimated rainfall, echo tops, and about 25+ other radar features). It’s also well thought out and very intuitive, very user friendly in that you can add major roads, cities, storm tracks warnings….or you can choose to not overlay these layers. Sprend the money and get it, get the best, have no regrets. Okay?

By far the best radar app

RadarScope has been my go-to for the past few years to keep me and my family informed and safe from impending severe weather. This app is fantastic on Mac, iPhone, and iPad. I only wish they would release it as a Windows PC app.

UNDERDEVELOPED FOR THE PRICE

I would not mind paying $30 for a nicely developed app, but RadarScope underdeveloped. For example I opted for the additional $10 annual subscription fee in order to display lightning strikes. But the strikes are nearly invisible on the map. And there is no lightening strike fade out time delay or audio sound when a strike happens. These features are available for free on at least one website. Additionally, the black background is nice for nighttime, but why all the time. How about an option for a daytime sat map viewing? Or an option to list the temps across the displayed region? Very minimal information at a price that suggests a lot more should be happening. For those considering purchasing RadarScope: google lightning strikes. The results will lead you to surprisingly good websites showing lightning as well as nice radar (even one with an optional black background just like RadarScope).

love it!

I’m a sailor and do beercan racing in the late afternoons. I love this radar. It gives the track and speed of the storm cells, which is really helpful for me to plan whether or not it’s safe to head out, since I have to leave the dock 1 hour before racing starts!

Wait a minute….no location services?

So…. i just paid $30 for a radar app that I have to manually tell it where I am and what radar to use? Why doesnt the OSX version have a location finder? Or am I blind and just cant find it?

Awesome Radar

Have had this app on my Iphone and Ipad since released. This app on Macbook just works and looks incredible. Kudos to the developers

RadarScope has got to be the best radar application out there!

I started with using RadarScope on my Mac, then on my iPod touch, and I just love it! It’s definitely by far the best radar app for the Mac, and possibly for iOS as well. I really love that the radar imagery comes straight from the radar site, and that it is not modified in any significant way. With other radar applications, the radar imagery may be out of date, or just not as detailed as the radar imagery in RadarScope. RadarScope’s imagery updates only every 5 to 10 minutes, and the radar imagery is very detailed, and very high quality! Another huge advantage about RadarScope is that it gives you a huge selection of radar tilts! One of my favorite features in RadarScope is the real time lightning strikes accessible via a RadarScope Pro subscription. While some apps may only give you limited lightning data, RadarScope gives you lightning for a full radar scan area. This lightning is also accurate and up to the minute. It also animates with the radar so you can see where the lightning has been striking the most in the past hour. Also, with the RadarScope Pro subsciption, you can access more frames of the SuperRes radar, so you can view a longer storm track in the highest quality of radar imagery. I do recommend the RadarScope Pro subscription, and while it’s $9.99 per year, it really helps to see how powerful a certain cell is with all the lightning strikes. While this version of RadarScope for OS X is $29.99, and the version for iOS is $9.99, it is a great value for the quality of radar imagery you receive. I would highly recommend you give it a try if you want top-notch storm tracking!

Great radar app

Love radarscope, it’s basically running 24/7 on my Macbook Pro. My only gripe about paying for level 2 data is that storm relative velocity is NOT in level 2 detail, it switches back to level 3 data…WHY? It has SuperRes Velocity in level 2, why can’t storm relative velocity also be in level 2? Fix this, and it’ll be a 5 star app.

Great application! Needs to follow iOS though. :-(

Love it! Could really use the ability to click on a storm report and dual pane like iOS recieved. Thanks all

Best thing out there...

Started as a meteorologist in 1989, I remember briefing aircrews and paying for dial up radar images in the Air Force and learning radar on an old FPS-77 radar overseas. I think that radar is now in a museum somewhere, lol. Boy, has technology come a long way since the WSR-88D came on board years ago. After nearly 20 years as both an Air Force and on-air personality, this app has been on my phone and now my IOS device. It’s by far and away the app that makes me feel right at home when diagnosing the weather now for me and my family. Thank you to the developers for providing a stellar product for those of us that not just look at the storm but truly know what we are looking at and utlize the tools you developed the way you intended. Great work, I’m a huge fan!
